Observation

(2) Staff comingled the age groups: Preschoolers were allowed to comingle with the toddlers when preparing to leave and when leaving the outdoor playground. The two groups need to be kept separate to an from the playground. (3) (d)(e)(f-iii) Staff allowed some preschoolers and some toddlers to leave the gated area before a Staff was able to lead and direct and one staff needed help but the rest of the staff went into the classroom before the toddlers were all safely back together in the classroom. One tried to go under into the parking lot while luckily another one just sat down by the playground fence; two more were with the same remaining Staff who was carrying one and had a hold of the other one's arm. Staff were not positioned in order to managed the transition safely. (5) (c) (iv) Active supervision is intentional and planned. The transition was again not well managed whereby a toddler almost ran into the parking lot and another one was behind the staff who was on their way in and luckily did not make a run. The transition from the playground to the classroom needs to be coordinated between the two classes so that the toddler and preschool classed literally do not run together and the transition for each class needs to be coordinated by the teachers in that class to make sure that one staff is out of the fence first to lead the group and the other staff is at the end to make sure that all the children are coming along safely.
